- The images were created using 3D Studio 4 (Kinetix/Autodesk). Simple text was added with an image editor.
- In the majority of the renderings, the object is rendered exactly as it comes from the Blocks & Materials 2 CDROM, 3D Studio section. Only in some instances, were minor material changes and/or adjustments made to suit the needs of the manual cover designer (colors, shades, etc...). If the original assigned material is not desired, material changes or edits are quick and easy, allowing the user to concentrate more on their scene or design.
- In all cases where bitmap textures are used, the mapping coordinates that are originally assigned inside the object, remained unchanged or edited, making material changes easy !
- Q: Why the blue background ? A: The images were created using 32 bit alpha channel for the background. This was so objects which have "transparency" could be easily overlayed onto any color, and still show the transparency correctly. We left them blue so that this effect remained intact, and so the objects would have a good contrast against the background.
- The high-resolution gallery images are provided in compressed .JPG format. This is to help save downloading time. Sometimes, the background will "haze" around the object, which is normal with solid backgrounds and the .JPG file format. Color banding or shading patterns on objects sometimes occurs as well. This is only in the display image, and not a problem with the object or it's material.
